Rian, who played a starring role in his movie ‘The Cork Crusader, was awarded Best Action Movie, while Kate, was awarded premier of Best Adventure Movie for her film, The LooLahs.

In his film, The Cork Crusader, Rian goes on an epic journey to face off against his mischievous nemesis, Pongo.

However, an unexpected event disrupts this journey, forcing him to use all his wit and courage to protect his city.

The film is a thrilling and humorous adventure that highlights bravery, friendship, and the spirit of Cork.

Award-winning stage and screen writer, Paul Walker, who worked on the film said it was a pleasure to work with Rian and his family.

“Rian had a vision, he knew what he wanted, and his family were with him all the way.

“All I did was put Rian’s wonderful imagination down on paper, and the Cork Crusader was born,” he said.

The LooLahs follows the heart-warming journey of Kate and her family, telling the story of how they navigate through a day filled with unexpected delays and a race against time.

The film, set in Cobh, is a feel-good movie that celebrates family bonds and the joy of living in the moment.

Professional screenwriter, Gavin Ryan, who worked on The LooLahs, said it was a privilege to be part of this incredible event every year.

“I am always blown away by the creativity of the families who are dealing on a daily basis with really challenging circumstances with such courage and good humour.

“The event itself is so outrageous and ostentatious – it’s such an affirming celebration of the lives of these children and those who love them.”

The project is coordinated by senior play therapist, Michelle Hartnett and project coordinator, Lorna Collins, with support from long standing LauraLynn volunteer, Joanna Butler, and a team of industry professionals and volunteers.

“The LauraLynn Oscars is a unique initiative that goes beyond the traditional scope of filmmaking,” said Ms Hartnett.

“It offers families an incredible opportunity to explore their dynamics, share their personal stories, and collaborate in creative ways they may have never imagined before.

“This initiative is crucial because it empowers families to actively participate in the storytelling process, allowing them to see their own narratives unfold on screen.

“More importantly, it gives them a special day to stand in the spotlight together, celebrating their unique journey as a family and creating moments of beauty, joy, and memories that will last a lifetime.”
