Cork's beloved Kabin Crew and collaborators the Lisdoonvarna Crew were presented with a prestigious award during an appearance on the first Late Late Show of the the season last night.

The Cork and Clare based youngsters were in studio to perform their smash hit 'The Spark' before sitting down for a chat with Late Late Show host, Patrick Kielty.

'The Spark' quickly became the song of the summer following its release with the crews performing at festivals at home and abroad in recent months.

Asked if they had anticipated such a response, Kabin Crew member Martin told the RTÉ chat show host that the reaction has surpassed all expectations.

“I don’t think anybody in the Kabin expected it, anybody in the world expected it.

“We made it for Cruinniú na nÓg, we put it up online and somehow it blew up.

“We thought it was just going to be a thing in Knocknaheeny, our home town," he said.

Meanwhile, Sophia McNamara who made an appearance on last year's Late Late Toy Show, said it has been an amazing summer for the Kabin Crew and Lisdoonvarna Crew.

“It was a great experience on the Toy Show and it’s a great experience to be back and we also had a great summer going to Belgium, going to Scotland, going to Electric Picnic, All Together Now, Rock the Block at the Kabin and The Everyman. It was unreal," she said.

Following their chat, Mr Kielty made a special presentation to the crews, honouring them with the inaugural Late Late Legend Award.

“We have something new on this year’s show for people that we love, for people that you guys at home love, people who have made us smile, people who’ve inspired us with their message and people who have changed other people's lives for the better and because we think that you guys are all of those things we would like to present Kabin Crew and Lisdoonvarna Crew with our very, very first… Late Late Legend Award," he said, to which Martin responded with chants of "up Knocknaheeny".
