Cork Folk Festival all set to celebrate its 45th year

Cork’s legendary folk festival is set to return for its 45th year, running for five days at the start of next month.

Headlining this year’s festival at the Cork Opera House will be singer Paul Brady.

Another highlight of this year’s festival will be the launch of a new book at Cork City Library.

Cork Folk Festival 1979-2024 — Reeling Down the Years was written by festival co-organiser William Hammond.

Among the many musicians featuring in this year’s packed line-up are Frankie Gavin, Jack O’Rourke, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Jimmy Crowley, Cormac McCarthy, Matthew Berrill, Rosie McCarthy, Ger Wolfe, Seth Lakeman, North Cregg, Martin Leahy, and Claire-Anne Lynch.

Cork Folk Festival venues will include Elizabeth Fort, Coughlan’s, The Phoenix Bar, The Corner House, An Spailpín Fánach, The Long Valley, the Gallagher Theatre at MTU Bishopstown, University College Cork Music Department, and The Crane Lane.
