A man in his 30s has been arrested in connection with a drug seizure in North Cork yesterday where suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €170,000 was recovered.

The seizure was made after Gardaí stopped and searched a vehicle in the Mitchelstown area.

“As part of ongoing investigations into the sale and distribution of drugs, Gardaí from the Cork County Divisional Drugs Unit, supported by Gardaí from the Cork North East Community Engagement Area and the Serious Crime Unit, stopped and searched a vehicle in the Mitchelstown area on Monday, 2nd September 2024,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“During the course of the search suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €170,000, pending analysis, was recovered.

“A man (30s) was arrested and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Garda Station in Co Cork.

“Investigations are ongoing,” they added.
