A man in his 30s has been arrested following the seizure of drugs worth €60,000 in Cork city today.

A man in his 30s has been arrested following the seizure of drugs worth €60,000 in Cork city today.

The seizure was part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and distribution of drugs and related crime.

Gardaí from the Cork City Drugs Unit, in collaboration with the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and Revenue Customs, conducted the joint operation.

During the operation, cannabis valued at €60,000 was seized, and is pending further analysis.

Following the seizure the man was arrested.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said that the man is currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Garda Station in the Southern Region.

“The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis,” the spokesperson said.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
