Three units of Cork City Fire Service were called to a fire at a disused petrol station on the Old Mallow Road at around 7.20pm,  a spokesman for the Fire Brigade has confirmed.

Emergency services have this evening been responding to a blaze in the city. 

Three units of Cork City Fire Service were called to a fire at a disused petrol station on the Old Mallow Road at around 7.20pm,  a spokesman for the Fire Brigade has confirmed.

“It was well alight when we got there so we used breathing apparatus as well as the fire hose to extinguish it,” said Cork City Fire Service Third Officer Adrian O’Sullivan.

“It took about an hour to extinguish the blaze,” he added.

Crews have now returned to base.
