A movie which has been described as a ‘masterclass in Guerilla film-making’ and which stars Cork-based actor Alex Eydt, is to be screened in the city as part of the Cork Indie Film Festival.
'Suit Hung. Tied Tongue' was filmed in Finglas, Malahide, The Liberties and Wicklow on a low budget and tells the story of two brothers, Freddie and Seán Halpin, who lose their mother to the cervical cancer scandal in tragic circumstances.
Fuelled by the current social climate, they become unhinged and violent.
Directed by Sau Dachi, the film is described as having controversial and anarchic themes and being a “slow burning 94 minutes of dark drama”.
The work has already garnered a number of awards and nominations, including the ‘Best Feature Film’ at the Underground Film Festival as well as a nod for the ‘Best Genre Film’ at the Vancouver Badass Film Festival.
The film, which is described in one review as “a provocative commentary on the state of contemporary society and the devastating consequences of political apathy and systemic neglect”, will be shown in Cork’s Arc Cinema on August 21.
