A CORK County Council survey is inviting members of the public to provide input to the development of a regeneration plan for a north Cork town.

The survey, which refers to the development of a Town Centre First Regeneration Plan for Kanturk, is the next step in the public consultation process.

Funding of €30,000 was approved for this plan earlier this year by the Department of Rural and Community Development, which will be used to develop a community-led vision for Kanturk.

The Town Centre First Plan can then support competitive bids for national and local funding to progress projects. The aim of the Town Centre First Policy is to create town centres that function as viable, vibrant, and attractive locations for people to live, work, and visit.

Mayor of the County of Cork councillor Joe Carroll said the findings of this survey will play a guiding role in the development of the Town Centre First plan for Kanturk.

“I encourage all members of the community in Kanturk, and surrounds, to have their say.

“All ideas and suggestions are welcome,” he said.

Cork County Council will be developing the regeneration plan for Kanturk, in consultation with residents and business owners, together with the wider community who visit the town regularly.

The next steps will involve focused consultation, with key stakeholder groups to mark the start of the plan development process.

The public survey will be open until July 31.
