Man who won Cork house said it ‘couldn’t have come at a better time’

A CORK house hunter who won a €350,000 three-bed in a raffle said the win “couldn’t have come at a better time”.

Dawid Mozolewski won the new home in Carrigaline after his ticket was draw out in the Enable Ireland ‘Win a House’ competition.

The 30-year-old, who lives in Kinsale and works as an engineer with Dell, also scooped €10,000 worth of vouchers from EZ Living and Right Price Tiles and Wood Flooring to help kit out his new pad.

The winning ticket, number 885, was pulled from the raffle drum by Enable Ireland’s director of HR and corporate affairs, Theresa Compagno, at an event broadcast live on Facebook. 

Goal

Enable Ireland achieved its goal to complete the funding of their Lavanagh Children’s Centre in Cork, which caters for families across the county who avail of their services. Mr Mozolewski, who moved to Ireland from Poland with his parents and siblings when he was 16, said his family was thrilled with his slice of good fortune.

“I am absolutely delighted to win the Cork draw hosted by Enable Ireland. I was actually in the market for my first-ever house, so this couldn’t come at a better time,” said Mr Mozolewski.

“I can’t wait to see the house in person. I want to thank Enable Ireland and I’m delighted that in the process I could support their cause for funding the children’s centre in Cork,” he added.

Enable Ireland’s CEO, John O’Sullivan, said a “sincere thank you” to the public for supporting their campaign.

“The funds raised have helped us to complete the funding of our vital new Children’s Services Centre in Curraheen,” said Mr O’Sullivan. “Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket for this draw, your support enables us to continue to provide our vital therapy and rehabilitative services for generations to come.”

Sentiments echoed by Enable Ireland Cork fundraising manager Maria Desmond, who paid tribute to everyone who has supported the campaign.

“We couldn’t have done this without the support of our sponsors and our fundraising committee lead by stalwart volunteer Mrs Anne Hegarty, who has worked tirelessly fundraising on behalf on Enable Ireland for the past 30 years,” said Ms Desmond.

Mrs Hegarty said that thanks to the generosity of the people of Cork, “over 1,800 children with a very wide range of complex disabilities will now have the benefit of this beautiful facility”.
