The Echo/Echolive.ie has received three nominations in this year’s Justice Media Awards.

Three Echo news reporters have been shortlisted for their work in highlighting various justice issues over the past year.

Amy Campbell has been shortlisted for the ‘Newcomer of the Year’ award, while Donal O'Keeffe and Amy Power received nominations in the ‘Print/Online Journalism (local)’ category.

Mr O'Keeffe has been shortlisted for his story on the impact of Ann Lovett’s death on society. Ann Lovett, a 15-year-old schoolgirl who was born on April 6, 1968, in Cobh General Hospital, died 40 years ago after giving birth beside a grotto to the Blessed Virgin in Granard in Co Longford.

Ms Power has been shortlisted for her coverage earlier this year of new monthly complaint clinics in Cork launched by Ombudsman Ger Deering’s office.

The longest running media awards in Ireland, the Justice Media Awards recognise outstanding print, broadcast and online journalism that contributes to the public’s understanding of justice, the legal system and access to justice issues.

The 2024 Justice Media Awards will take place in-person at the Law Society of Ireland at Blackhall Place in June 2024.
