Cork man remanded on charges of multiple break-ins

A Cork man facing charges arising out of an investigation into multiple break-ins to cafes and other commercial premises in and around Cork city was remanded in custody on Monday.

Thirty-one-year-old Edward Collins of St Vincent’s Hostel, Anglesea Terrace, Cork, faces multiple counts of burglary and causing criminal damage at various premises.

Judge Mary Dorgan remanded him in custody until May 28 to allow for directions to be obtained from the DPP.

He is accused of burglary at Costa Coffee on Emmet Place on November 5. The following day he allegedly burgled The Four Liars Bistro on Dominic Street and stole cash and caused damage.

More recently, on March 6 this year he allegedly carried out a burglary at Floral Décor House on Cross Douglas Road, Cork, causing extensive damage.

He is accused of causing criminal damage to Café Moly, Douglas Street, on March 8 and is charged with burglary at Kasab on Glasheen Road on the same date. 

Also on March 8 he is charged with causing criminal damage to a premises known as Chair on George’s Quay.

In another alleged offence on that date he is accused of burglary at Lough Café.

And in a fifth charge related to March 8 he is charged with causing extensive damage to the front of The Lough Hair Studio.

Two days later he allegedly burgled Amy Michelle Hairdressing on High Street at Turner’s Cross. Then in relation to March 15 he is charged with burglary at The Flying Enterprise in Cork.

On the application of Sergeant Dave Delea, Judge Dorgan adjourned the case to May 28 for directions from the DPP.
