The death has occurred of Cork mother of two Aisling Murphy Collins whose family had fundraised to help cover her medical bills and living expenses as she continued treatment for metastatic breast cancer.

The 35-year-old mother of Adaline, aged eight, and five year old Teddy, who was living in Mourneabbey but was a native of Fairhill Drive in the city, had been living with the illness for three years.

She underwent chemotherapy, a mastectomy and several rounds of radiotherapy and immunotherapy all while being ‘a loving mother and wife.’

In an interview with the Irish Examiner earlier this month, Valerie Collins said that her sister in law Aisling always tried to make the best of her difficult situation.

“She gets up every morning puts on her game face for her children and just gets on with it. She was at her little girl’s first confession on Wednesday night, having come out of hospital on Tuesday.

"She is back in hospital again today and we have Adaline’s first Holy Communion on May 24th.

"She is an inspiring person with an amazing attitude. Aisling faces every battle head on. She has always said ‘bring it on I’ll fight it. Aisling faces every battle head on.”

In a post on the Go Fund Me page Ms Collins said that Aisling died on Saturday peacefully, at home surrounded by her loving family.

She described Aisling as “an amazingly resilient person with an unwavering positive attitude to every obstacle.”

The ‘devoted and cherished mom’ is survived by her husband Darren, her two children, her parents Robert and Jacinta, her sisters Denise, Linda, Sinéad and Niamh and her inlaws John and Colette. She will also be much missed by her extended family, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

The requiem mass for Aisling will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, at noon in The Church of the Resurrection, Farranree, Cork with burial following at St Senan’s Cemetery in Tower.

Mourners are asked to donate to Marymount Hospice, if desired, in lieu of flowers.
