Met Éireann says that people can expect torrential downpours in parts today with lightning and hail which could lead to travel-related issues and spot flooding. 

A yellow thunderstorm warning has come into effect in Cork as well as in Tipperary, Waterford, Kilkenny and Carlow.

Met Éireann says that people can expect torrential downpours in parts today with lightning and hail which could lead to travel-related issues and spot flooding. 

The weather warning will remain in place until 8pm.

Temperatures are expected to remain warm today with highs in Munster of 18 to 21 degrees forecast.

Looking to next week, Met Éireann says that it will continue warm and humid, but will turn cooler and less humid from midweek with temperatures trending closer to average.
