Fans of singer Taylor Swift have been homing on a late night rock bar on Cork’s North Main Street after a song on the superstar’s new album was linked to one of the singer’s ex-boyfriends.

Fans of Taylor Swift have been homing on a late night rock bar on Cork’s North Main Street after a song on the superstar’s new album was linked to one of the singer’s ex-boyfriends who forgot to turn his location off when he visited a bar with the same name.

The Black Dog, one of the songs on Tay-Tay’s latest album, is well known in Cork as the city’s only late night rock bar and is also acclaimed as a taqueria and is also the name of a pub in London.

Boyfriend

The singer is well known for her inclination to write about former boyfriends in her songs and while the name of the former flame is not mentioned in the lyrics of The Black Dog as penned by Taylor Swift, her fans have linked her to both the Cork bar and the London pub.

The Cork link comes through reports that a former boyfriend, Matty Healy, lead singer of The 1975, visited the bar.

Conor Lyons, the manager of the North Main Street bar, said he could ‘neither confirm nor deny’ that the singer had visited his premises over the years but did say that Matty Healy’s father, actor Tim Healy, a star of Auf Wiedeshen Pet, had been a customer on more than one occasion.

“We’ve had many famous visitors over the years but we like to treat them with anonymity when they come,” said Mr. Lyons who did confirm, however, that Taylor herself had never visited the popular bar.

The London pub called The Black Dog has been quick to capitalise on its possible link to the singer and is already selling merchandise highlighting the connection.

Location

The lyric itself is non-commital about the location of The Black Dog though Taylor must know given the name of the hostelry was revealed because the ex had forgotten to turn the location off on his phone.

And for die-hard Swifties, that’s enough.

If her fans do pay visit to the Cork premises, they may not hear any of their idol’s music as the playlist is heavy rock.
