Uisce Éireann said that dedicated water services engineers are onsite working to get the water treatment plant back into operation as soon as possible.

Uisec Éíreann crews are working to restore water supply for customers in Kilbehenny Village and parts of Mitchelstown North today following a shutdown of the Galtees water treatment plant.

As a result, the company says that customers in the area may experience low pressure and/or interruptions to their water supply.

Uisce Éireann said that dedicated water services engineers are onsite working to get the water treatment plant back into operation as soon as possible.

It is anticipated that normal supply should be restored this evening.

Water Operations Lead for Uisce Éireann, Niall O’Riordan said that the effects of the heavy rainfall forced the water treatment plant to shutdown.

"Expert crews are still onsite working hard to get it back into operation as soon as possible and restore customers’ water supply.

"We regret any inconvenience as a result of this issue and thank the local community for their patience.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact the company on X (formerly Twitter) @IWCare with any queries.
