Fota House and Gardens issue warning about Easter events ticket scam

A spokesperson for Fota house & Gardens warned people not to pay for the fake events and only get information from their official page.

Fota House & Gardens in East Cork has warned families of fake events circulating on social media, requesting payment for tickets.

They shared two posters for events that they say are not being held, advising customers not to pay for them and to only get event information from their official page at https://fotahouse.com.

The ‘Mother’s Day and Easter Food & Craft Fair’ event on April 6 and 7 promises an Easter egg hunt, along with tombola, raffle, gifts, games, crafts, refreshments, face fainting, a boot fair and, oddly, 'taster therapies.'

Writing on Facebook, a spokesperson for Fota House & Gardens  said: “It has come to our attention that a Facebook account purporting to be in the name of Tim Kelly is circulating events at Fota House on April 6 & 7 as ‘Mother’s Day and Easter Food & Craft Fair’ & April 13 & 14 as “Summer Fete & Dog Show”.

“The poster is also requesting payment from the public. Please note this is a HOAX and FRADULENT as no such events are being held and no payments should be made for these events.”

They added: “We will be hosting our Easter Egg hunt on Saturday, March 30 – Monday, April 1 and our annual Plant Fair on Sunday, April 14, so please follow official Fota House social media channels for more information on these events.”
