Freddie White plays Mitchelstown this weekend

Cork guitar legend Freddie White, who plays in Mitchelstown this Saturday night.
A giant of Ireland’s music scene, one who helped to educate the taste of generations of fans, is set to take to the stage in north Cork this weekend.
Freddie White, a favourite with Irish audiences for five decades now, will play Saint George’s Arts and Heritage Centre this Saturday night, February 24.
Introducing many Irish fans to the music of the likes of Tom Waits, Randy Newman, Guy Clark, Warren Zevon and John Hiatt, Mr White has been part of the live music scene in Ireland since the 1970’s.
Born in Cobh, he was playing professionally by the age of 17 and he moved to London at 19, where he busked on the London Underground, developing his unique voice and guitar style.
His earliest recordings, which were re-mastered and re-released in 2004, are still hugely popular among his loyal fan base.
said: “The sparse and haunting ‘Live on Tour’ is still among the greatest Irish albums of all time. ‘Do You Do’ (1981) swings and struts just as profoundly. Imagine those two cuts of vinyl made decade ago, they still stand as perfection.” In recent years, Mr White has toured Ireland regularly, while working on his latest recordings.
In 2018, he released his 14th album, ‘One Heart Beating’.
Freddie White plays Saint George’s Arts and Heritage Centre in Mitchelstown this Saturday night, February 24. Doors open at 7.30pm, with the concert beginning at 8pm.
Tickets are available in Mitchelstown from 2Shoes, Spar and The Favourite, on Eventbrite, and at the door of the centre.
