A STUDENT who was one of two people who died in a car crash in Co Limerick on Tuesday night has been named as Darragh Dullea, 20, from near Clonakilty.

Mr Dullea was a passenger in a car which crashed into a wall on the N69 near Ballyengland near Askeaton. Cillian Kirwan, 19, from Piltown, Co Kilkenny was the other fatality in the crash, which occurred at around 7.25pm on Tuesday night.

Two others were injured in the crash, one from the Charleville area, and the other a native of Co Offaly.

All four were students at the Salesian Agricultural College in Pallaskenry, Co Limerick.

According to a Garda statement it was a single-vehicle collision in which a car collided with a wall. Two passengers, a man in his 20s and a man in his late teens, were fatally injured. The driver and another passenger, both in their late teens, are receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

The bodies of the deceased were removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick where post-mortem examinations were due to take place.

The road remained closed for a time yesterday and local diversions were in place. A technical examination was due to be carried out by garda forensic collision investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them and are asking any road users who were travelling in the area at the time who might have camera footage, including dashcam footage, to make it available to gardaí.
