Mervyn Shalemba appeared at a sitting of Cork District Court.

A Book of Evidence is to be prepared in the case against a 21-year-old man accused of drug-dealing and a related charge of money-laundering.

Mervyn Shalemba with an address at an apartment at Eden Hall, Model Farm Road, Cork, appeared at Cork District Court on the charges.

Sergeant Pat Lyons said the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed that a guilty plea could be entered at District Court level but that such an option was available in respect of all charges and not for just some counts.

In that event defence solicitor Daithí Ó Donnabháin said a book of evidence would be required.

Mr Shalemba is charged that on August 23, 2022 at his home he had €3,700 cash knowing it was the proceeds of criminal conduct and that he was allegedly in possession of cannabis and had that drug for the purpose of sale or supply.

Judge Mary Dorgan adjourned the case to February 19 to allow time for preparation and service of the book of evidence.
