Storm Isha leaves thousands of people without power

Thousands of people have been left without power as Storm Isha brought disruption to the electricity and transport networks across Ireland yesterday.
The ESB said that as of 6.30am, 230,000 homes and businesses across the Republic of Ireland are without power, with the worst impacted areas in the north west.
There are still many places across Cork with no power this morning. Some of the worst affected areas include Whitechurch, where there are 393 homes and businesses without power, and Kilbarry where there are 123 affected.
There are dozens of other smaller outages reported around the county.

Cork County Council are reporting that fallen trees, power lines and debris from Storm Isha may impact on commuters' journeys this morning.
In a post on X the local authority said: "Please exercise extreme caution and be especially aware of vulnerable road users including pedestrians and cyclists.
"Issues such as fallen trees, flooding and road damage can be reported on 021 4800048 (5pm-9am weekends & bank holidays) or 021 4276891 during office hours."

Flights at Cork Airport are running to schedule this morning.
Meanwhile the Cork to Heuston train has departed Cork Kent approximately 25 minutes delayed and with reduced capacity due to a mechanical issue.
The Road Safety Authority advised all road users to be aware of the dangers once the storm has passed as there may be hazardous conditions such as flooded roads and downed pylons, lines, trees and other debris on roads.
Cork is no longer under a weather warning this morning.
However, there is a gale warning for all coasts of Ireland and on the Irish Sea, including Cork.
