File sent to DPP in case against man accused of threatening to kill ex-partner

The investigation file has been sent to the DPP in the case against a man accused of harassing and threatening to kill his ex-partner and following this with an Instagram communication in breach of a court order.
Sergeant Pat Lyons confirmed that the file was with the Director of Public Prosecutions and that directions were awaited.
On the application of Sgt Lyons, Judge Mary Dorgan remanded the accused in custody to appear again by video link from prison at Cork District Court on January 18.
Defence solicitor, Dennis Healy, said the two sets of charges could travel together to that adjournment date.
Garda Niamh Crowley charged the 37-year-old that between March 20 and 22 2023, he contacted his ex-partner by email and threatened to kill her. She also charged him with the related count of harassment.
On April 13 he was charged that at an unspecified location in County Cork he did make electronic contact via Instagram in direct contravention of a Safety Order, contrary to the Domestic Violence Act.
