Cork wedding venues feature on top 100 list for 2024  

NINE Cork wedding venues feature in a list of the 100 best wedding venues for 2024/25.

The list was compiled by independent wedding venue guide, One Fab Day.

It includes Ballymaloe House, Ballyvolane House, Bantry House, Blairscove House & Restaurant, Camus Farm, Castlemartyr Resort, Fernhill House Hotel, Inish Beg Estate and Innishannon House Hotel.

“We are utterly spoiled for choice in Ireland when it comes to wedding venues, as there are thousands of incredible spaces and properties where you can say ‘I do’,” said editor Jessica O’Sullivan.

“Whittling it down to just 100 of the best is always an extremely challenging task.

“To have this many elite venues in the same county make the top 100 is very impressive,” she said of Cork’s high number of mentions on the list.

Now in its eighth year, One Fab Day’s guide for engaged couples also offers tips for the initial stages of wedding planning. Research carried out by the guide shows that the average budget of an Irish wedding is €25,000-30,000.

They also found 70% of couples invite fewer than 150 guests while 35% invite fewer than 100.

Their statistics revealed that longer engagements have become the norm, with the most common length of time to be engaged among respondents being 18 months.

“As the majority of couples are opting to enjoy a long engagement, this gives them more time to research and find their perfect venue, whether that’s a castle, a restaurant, a gallery, or a country house hotel,” Ms O’Sullivan added.

“In response to the many readers’ queries we’ve received, this year we have added a dog-friendly category so that readers can see at a glance whether a venue is open to them bringing the furriest member of the family to their wedding day.”
