In addition to potential power outages, Met Éireann said other possible impacts of the adverse conditions could include hazardous travelling conditions and localised flooding.
The latest weather warning comes as many homes and businesses across Cork were left without power yesterday following strong winds and thunder and lightning.
More than 1,000 properties in the Carrigaline area alone were without power for a period last night, with outages also reported in Clonakilty, Lee Bridge, and Timoleague, among other areas.
While most power has now been restored, some faults have yet to be repaired.
In a statement this morning, Cork County Council said there have been "no significant impacts" across the county arising from the adverse weather brought about by Storm Gerrit overnight.
“The strong winds have resulted in some fallen trees and debris on the roads, with a total of 13 fallen trees reported to the council during the course of Wednesday 27th and overnight.
“Crews are responding to these as a priority.
“The heavy rainfall over the past 24-36 hours has resulted in spot flooding across the county’s road network.
“While there is no major disruption on the network, road users should exercise care due to surface water and the resultant risk of damage to road surfaces.
“River levels continue to be monitored and while they are rising, there are no immediate concerns.
“Demountable flood barriers have been erected in both Mallow and Fermoy as a precautionary measure," a council spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said issues such as flooding and road damage should be reported to a local council office, the details of which can be found by visiting www.corkcoco.ie.
Outside of working hours, the council can be contacted via its 'Emergency Out of Hours' number (021) 4800048.
"Council crews are on the ground across the county responding to issues and prioritising the most critical issues where necessary.
"In the event of disruption to power supply, please contact ESB Networks at 1800 372 999.
"In the event of disruption to water supply, please contact Uisce Éireann at 1800 278 278.
"In an emergency please dial 999 or 112," the spokesperson added.
According to the latest forecast for Munster, conditions will remain windy today with a continued chance of coastal flooding due to “fresh to strong and gusty southwest to west winds with gales at times on coasts”.
Sunny spells and showers have been forecast with highest temperatures of between 6 and 9 degrees.
Tonight, temperatures will dip to lows of 3 to 6 degrees in a fresh and gusty west to southwest wind.
Sunny spells and scattered blustery showers will continue tomorrow “with an added wind chill factor”.
