Iarnród Éireann announces Christmas rail service arrangements

Iarnród Éireann has announced details of its rail service arrangements over the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
There will be a number of changes to schedules between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day and customers are advised that pre-booking is strongly advised on Intercity services, particularly at busiest times.
On Christmas Eve, Cork commuter rail will operate a normal Sunday service until approximately 9pm.
A normal Sunday InterCity service will run however, some services are cancelled including the 9pm Heuston to Cork service.
There will be no rail services on with Christmas Day or St Stephen's Day.
A Saturday service will run on Cork commuter services from December 27 to December 30.
Weekday InterCity services will run during the same period but with cancellations and alterations on certain routes.
On New Year’s Eve and on New Year’s Day, Cork commuter services will operate to a Sunday service.
Cork commuter services will finish at approximately 10pm on New Year’s Eve.
A Sunday InterCity service will operate on New Year’s Eve, again with some exceptions including the cancellation of the 9pm Heuston to Cork service, while on New Year’s Day a revised timetable will be in effect and rail travellers are urged to check times before travel.
A normal service will resume on all routes on January 2.
“Customers are reminded that pre-booking is strongly advised on Intercity services, particularly at busiest times.
“Full schedule information throughout the period is available at www.irishrail.ie, and customers are advised to check their times before travelling on Intercity, DART and Commuter, as there are schedule alterations throughout this time on each day,” an Iarnród Éireann spokesperson said.
