The supermarket chain apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused.

Tesco shoppers in Cork who have already started their grocery shopping for Christmas are being advised to check their packs of stuffing.

A particular variety of the Christmas side dish is being taken off the shelves due to the possible presence of moths in the product, and customers who may have bought it are asked to check the sell-by date and pack size to see if theirs might be affected.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) recalled a batch of Tesco Finest Cranberry & Apple Stuffing yesterday, December 13.

Manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, caterers and retailers are being asked to remove the implicated batch from sale and display notices at point-of-sale.

Consumers are being advised not to eat stuffing from the batch, which has a best before date of September 2024, with the implicated batch also identifiable by the pack size of 130g.

Customers should return the product for a full refund, and do not need the receipt, Tesco said.

The supermarket company shared: “We are recalling a single batch of Tesco Finest Apple & Cranberry Stuffing Mix due to the possible presence of moths, which makes the product unfit for human consumption.

"Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused," the statement added.
