JEWELLERY, designer fashion, candles and artwork will be among the items on sale at a Christmas fair on Sunday in aid of the Greater Chernobyl Cause.

The Greater Chernobyl Annual Christmas Craft Fair will take place from 11am to 5pm in the Marian Hall, Ballinhassig.

All items are being donated for the event by artists from across Cork city and county and will be sold for discounted prices.

The Greater Chernobyl Cause has penetrated war-ravaged areas of Ukraine inaccessible to many other relief efforts.

Their work includes bringing essential supplies to forgotten villagers close to the Russian border, who are desperately trying to survive.

The charity is also supplying financial aid to various humanitarian hubs in Ukrainian towns including Lviv, Kviv and Kharkiv. The latter has been dubbed the ‘city with no windows’ due to constant shelling.

The charity is also providing support for Ukrainian refugees on their arrival to Ireland.

Representatives from the organisation often meet with refugees at the airport, transporting them to hubs and assisting with the registration process.

Direct access is also arranged with the various authorities.
