Enquiries underway following fire at commercial premises in East Cork

Enquiries are underway following a fire at a commercial premises off Main Street in Midleton last night.

A Garda spokesperson said Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the incident which occurred at approximately 9:30pm.

They said the fire was brought under control by local fire services and that there were no injuries reported.

“The scene has been preserved to facilitate a technical examination.

“This examination will determine the course of the investigation,” the spokesperson said.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

A spokesperson for Cork County Fire Service said crews from Midleton Fire Station and Cobh Fire Station were initially mobilised to respond.

“These were supported by crews from Youghal Fire Station and specialist appliances from Mallow Fire Station and Carrigaline Fire Station,” they added.

The spokesperson said units remained on the scene until just after 2am.
