Famous Cork bar on the market

BULL McCabes Bar & Grill on the Kinsale Road has been put on the market after 25 years of trading under its previous owners.

The bat, which replaced O’Hallorans Friendship Bar in 1998, is named after Thady “The Bull” McCabe, the main character of John B Keane’s The Field, played by Richard Harris in Jim Sheridan’s 1990 film version.

Its predecessor was also not the first bar on the site and in fact there has been a public house on the site since the 19th century.

Selling agents Malcolm Tyrrell and Robert Coughlan of Cohalan Downing told The Echo that the bar is on the market with a guide price for offers in excess of €650,000.

“This substantial and well-positioned property was completely redeveloped and modernised circa 1998, and extends to almost 3,900 sq.ft over 2 floors on an overall site of 0.4 acres approximately with 30 car parking spaces.”
