Three Cork weather stations record wettest ever October

Three Cork weather stations recorded their wettest ever Octobers, according to the latest monthly report from Met Éireann.
In the October climate statement, the forecaster said the weather station at Cork Airport had recorded 307.22mm of rainfall last month, the highest-ever level recorded at the location and the third-highest overall monthly total.
On the day Storm Babet hit, October 18, Cork Airport recorded its wettest day with 55.6mm of rainfall, the highest daily total for October since 1995.
The weather station at Moore Park near Kilworth recorded its wettest October since 1964 with 250.88m of rainfall during the month and Roches Point had its wettest October since 2004 with 204.2mm.
The Cork stations were among nine locations across the country which have recorded 100% or more of their average rainfall for the year with two months still remaining.
The stations with the percentage of their annual rainfall are Phoenix Park (108%), Dublin Airport (114%), Ballyhaise, Co Cavan (101%), Roches Point (112%), Dunsany, Co Meath (100%), Athenry, Co Galway (106%), Mount Dillon, Co Roscommon (102%), Cork Airport (101%) and Moore Park (100%).
Met Éireann said that its report is based on preliminary data available from its weather stations.
