West Cork village to host week-long festival this Halloween 

THE West Cork village of Leap is the place to be this October for Halloween lovers old and young, with a spooky market and a week-long festival.

On Sunday, October 29, the Centre of Excellence for Climate Action and Sustainability (CECAS) will be hosting a Halloween Market.

The organiser of the event told The Echo: “CECAS is brewing up a bewitching brew of Halloween family fun.

“Join us for spooktacular day featuring stalls and exciting activities that will send you shivers down your spine and warm your heart.”

The event will take place two days before Halloween from 10.30am-4pm at Myross Woods in Leap.

Over 20 stalls will be selling handmade crafts, vintage items, plants, produce, and more for sale on the day, and there will also be a pop-up café selling hot drinks and some delicious treats.

The Halloween market will feature storytelling by the fire with local guide Conor Buckley as well as face painting by DANU Face & Body Art.

Myross Woods is near the annual Leap Scarecrow Festival, making it the perfect place to visit this midterm break.

The popular festival runs from Friday, October 27 through to Sunday, November 5, and features events such as their famous scarecrow competition, workshops, puppet shows, arts and crafts, scary movie screenings, and a fancy dress parade.

There are several evening events at The Leap Inn and Harbour Bar which promise to be fun for parents too, as well as a cheese and wine reception at the opening of Ireland’s Mythical Goddess photography exhibition.
