A Halloween event for dogs is happening at the Marina Market on Saturday and Sunday, October 28 and 29.

Top Barkz Cork, which runs dog training courses at their Play, Education, and Training Centre in the popular Cork marketplace, will be hosting two morning events for dogs of all shapes and sizes.

The Trick-N-Treat Halloween Parties, now in their second year, will consist of a fun agility course with a Halloween theme so you can test their skills.

There will also be a pumpkin patch photo shoot opportunity and a trick n treat workshop, and fancy dress for both owners and dogs is optional but encouraged.

The event is split into different age and size categories with duplicate schedules on both days, starting with puppies under six months at 10.15am.

Next up at 11.30am is the category for six to 12-month-olds as well as dogs weighing under 20 kilos, and the adult and larger dogs is at 1.30pm.

Esther Ring, the founder and head trainer of Top Barkz told The Echo that the breakdown was to ensure that the course could be more tailored so that it would be challenging but not impossible for every dog taking part.

Places are limited to ten dogs per course, with Esther explaining: “We need a lot of space for them to do the agility course, and to make sure they’re not on top of each other - dog safety is always our priority, to make sure every dog is comfortable.”

She added: “We are excited to run the event again this year at Marina Market, it’s a spooktacular occasion for you and your dog to have some fun in a safe environment.”

Tickets are available at Eventbrite at €25 per dog, and as many humans as desired can attend with their dog.
