Cork schools get an invitation to join the Fit Squad

World Para Rowing champion, Katie O’Brien and Irish Olympians, David Gillick and Phil Healy are inviting schools throughout Ireland to participate in the forthcoming series of ‘Fyffes Fit Squad’ interactive children’s fitness visits running until next March.

SCHOOLS in Cork are invited to participate in the forthcoming series of ‘Fit Squad’.

The programme is a multi-award-winning children’s fitness programme that has been introduced to more than 30,000 pupils in a countrywide series of school visits since its launch just six years ago.

Supported by banana distributor Fyffes and backed by World Para Rowing champion Katie O’Brien and Irish Olympians, Cork sprinter Phil Healy and Dublin athlete David Gillick, each Fit Squad school visit of approximately 45 minutes duration is delivered by Irish health and fitness expert, Sharon Flanagan.

Carried out under the eye of teachers present, participants will be invited to take part in an active age-appropriate workout designed to improve their general fitness and receive advice on the importance of healthy eating.

Running until March, the coming series will see some 10,000 pupils participate from schools throughout Ireland, increasing to almost 40,000 the number that will have taken part in the programme since it was introduced in 2018.

Schools can register their interest at https://www.fyffesfitsquad.ie/register
