Man with white substance around his nose ran naked through streets near his home in Cork

A 28-year-old man with a white powder visible around his nose ran naked through the streets near his home after midnight and now he has been warned by a judge, “You will end up in jail if you continue.” 

Dylan Haynes of Mona Lodge Court, Blair’s Hill, Blarney Street, Cork, pleaded guilty at Cork District Court to a charge of being so intoxicated that he was a danger to himself or others.

Sergeant Ciarán Kelleher said in court that Garda Eoghan O’Mahony observed the incident.

“Garda O’Mahony spoke with him and observed that his pupils were dilated. He was speaking rapidly and there was a white substance around his nose. He was unaware of his surroundings.

“Garda O’Mahony was of the of the opinion that he was a danger to himself and at 30 minutes past midnight he was arrested for his own safety and conveyed to Gurranabraher garda station,” Sgt Kelleher said.

The arrest of Dylan Hayes followed an incident where was seen running naked in the area.

“He was not wearing any clothes or shoes. He was arrested for his own safety,” the sergeant said.

He was convicted twice before for being drunk and a danger.

The judge was told that the defendant had medical issues but that he was seeing his doctor on a weekly basis and that the issues had settled down.

Judge Olann Kelleher convicted and fined the accused €150.
