Judge warns that man who shouted abuse into faces of two women is at risk of prison if behaviour continues

A 50-year-old man who laughed loudly after shouting abuse into the faces of two young woman in Cork city has been fined and given a suspended sentence on public order charges arising out of that incident.

Cezary Fraczek of Cork Simon Community came to the attention of Garda Kian O’Sullivan on October 13 2022 on MacCurtain Street, Cork.

Sergeant Ciarán Kelleher said at Cork District Court:

“He approached two female pedestrians. He entered their personal space and shouted ‘f*** off’ loudly in their faces. He proceeded to walk away and laugh.

“He was holding an open can of Bulmers cider in his hand,” at the time.

Now he has pleaded guilty to being drunk and a danger, being threatening and abusive and failing to give his name to gardaí.

As well as fines totalling €300, Judge Olann Kelleher imposed a two-month suspended sentence on him.

Eddie Burke, solicitor, said of the accused: “He should not have used the f-word or behaved as he did.” 

The judge warned that this was the defendant’s third time engaging in threatening behaviour and that if he behaved in this way again he was at risk of prison.
