Man waved bracelet at staff before walking out of Cork store, court hears

Sergeant John Kelleher said the accused picked up a bracelet and waved the €50 bracelet at staff before walking out of the store in front of them.

STAFF at the Kilkenny Store on Lavitt’s Quay were faced with a 39-year-old man who picked up a bracelet on sale in the store and waved it in front of them before walking out without paying.

Peter Casey of Cork Simon Community pleaded guilty at Cork District Court to carrying out this theft shortly after 2 p.m. on August 28 2022 after 2 p.m..

Sergeant John Kelleher said the accused picked up a bracelet and waved the €50 bracelet at staff before walking out of the store in front of them.

The same man was caught driving without licence or insurance around the same time at this theft.

He was shouting at pedestrians at Church Road, Blackrock, while driving a car in the middle of the day.

Frank Buttimer, solicitor, referred to the pleas of guilty and the “limited nature of the offending”.

Judge Olann Kelleher imposed a total sentence of five months imprisonment on Peter Casey and disqualified him from driving for a period of six years.
