Man charged in relation to cannabis seizure at house in Cork 

A €20,000 cannabis seizure was made at a house in Cork and today a man was arrested and charged in relation to the alleged stash.

Detective Garda Ruairi McGovern of the divisional drugs unit formally arrested Bart Grabowski and cautioned him that he did not have to say anything but that whatever he might say could be taken down and given in evidence. He made no reply to either of the charges brought against him.

The first charge against the 41-year-old stated that he had cannabis in his possession at his home address at Seminary Road, Blackpool, Cork, on July 23.

The second charge referred to the same date and place in respect of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of selling or otherwise supplying to others.

Sergeant Pat Lyons said that directions were not yet available from the Director of Public Prosecutions. Because a forensic analysis of suspected drugs seized would have to be carried out, the sergeant sought a lengthy adjournment.

Judge Olann Kelleher adjourned the case until February 14 2024, noting that there was not state objection to the accused being remanded on bail on conditions.

Conditions require him to surrender all travel documents. 

Sgt. Lyons stated that the defendant had already complied with this condition. 

Mr Grabowski is also required not to apply for new documents. 

He is to sign on at the Bridewell Garda Station in Cork on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and to notify gardaí in advance if he intends to change his address or phone number.

Mr Grabowski was wearing shorts and a t-shirt with the words, “Something wicked this way comes,” for his court appearance.
