Man airlifted to hospital after incident at Tesco in Youghal

A man was airlifted to hospital after he was injured on the roof of Tesco in Youghal.

Emergency services attended a scene at around 1pm today after a man was reported injured at Tesco on Mill Road in Youghal.

It is believed the man injured his back and leg while performing maintenance work on the location and the air ambulance was called from Waterford to assist.

The store closed temporarily during the incident for around 10 minutes but reopened after the man was taken to hospital.

A statement from Tesco Ireland said it is “aware of an incident at our Youghal store this afternoon which was attended by the emergency services.

“The store temporarily closed as a matter of safety due to the presence of an air ambulance.

“The injured party has been safely taken to hospital.

“An investigation is underway and as such we cannot comment further.”
