Iarnród Éireann is to install a new permanent piano at Kent Station.

Its installation is part of a rollout of other pianos at railway stations nationwide.

A piano is also in place at Cork Airport and have become commonplace at transport hubs around the world offering passengers the opportunity to entertain their fellow travellers.

The piano at Kent station will be launched on Friday to celebrate World Piano Day. Pianist Dylan Howe will perform on the day.

The Cork piano is the fifth public piano to be installed at Ianród Éireann stations. The piano at Pearse Street station in Dublin was installed in 2017, the piano at Heuston was installed last March and the piano at Connolly was installed last June with Waterford following in August. They have all brought delight to those waiting at the stations.

Artist Gary Reddin designed the piano. Gary began his artistic career in Denmark and has produced hundreds of commissioned art pieces for clients including President Michael D Higgins, Penguin Books and many more.
