Heavy traffic delays across the city due to flooding from overnight rainfall
Traffic on the N20 this morning.

Citywide flooding overnight has resulted in severe traffic across the roads network this morning.

Traffic on the North Ring Road, Dublin Hill and the N20 Commons Road heading into Blackpool and the city has been extremely heavy all morning with long queues continuing towards Christy Ring Bridge.

Rochestown Road inbound has also been affected towards the roundabout off the N28.

There was also reports of long delays on the Lower Glanmire Road inbound, from the Dunkettle roundabout to Horgan’s Quay.

The N40 and the South Link were also affected.

Cork City Fire Brigade along with their colleagues in Ballyvolane and Ballincollig were battling the influx of water caused by heavy rain throughout the night and into the morning.

The Fire Brigade said that several people were assisted to safety from cars and water was pumped from many areas, preventing damage to homes.

Thankfully the rain has subsided, although there are predictions of rainfall this evening, from 2pm until 8pm, however it is not meant to be as heavy as yesterday.
