Residents in Cobh are concerned by a pink liquid seen spilling into the local water.

While it has not yet been confirmed what the substance is, Cobh residents are speculating that it could be paint.

In their post, Cork Harbour Waterkeeper asked the public to send them a private message if they have any information pertaining to the situation.

Upon discovering the pink liquid, Noel Sheehan of the CWHK sent the images to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Cork County Council and Irish Water, flagging the issue.

Speaking to  The Echo Mr Sheehan expressed his dismay to see the polluted water, "a reminder of what is being pumped into the Waterway's everyday".

Cork Harbour Waterkeeper is an independent organization funded and driven by concerned individuals.

Their mission is to provide a forum for public concerns and to fight for clean, swimmable, fishable waters, and safe drinking water.
