Glanmire native, Tanya Carroll, was the final leader to be revealed for the RTÉ One show after previously announced leader Claire Beakhurst was forced to pull out due to medical reasons.

Tanya, 33 is the mother of four children and has a hectic schedule as RTÉ states:

"Obsessed with Coca Cola, Tanya says she's been heavy for years, but the weight really came on after she gave up smoking.

"On a given day, she says, she'll drink between six and eight cans of the soft drink and starts her day with that and coffee.

"As a busy mum and carer for her elderly dad, who has diabetes and is also overweight, Tanya has a lot on her plate.

"Her family struggles to talk about weight with her, while her husband is upset by her low self-esteem."

Tanya joins two other participants as the three Cork leaders in the show this year.

Husband and wife duo Andrea and Barry Rea are to make history as the first couple ever to take part in the show.

The two who hail from Ballinlough will act as separate leaders as they work hard to develop healthier lifestyles.

Scientist Andrea, 31 applied first, having watched OT over the years.

When she told her husband Barry, a physiotherapist, he also decided to apply.

Barry turns 40 in July 2020, and at just over 29st, this is the heaviest he has been.

There could be a healthy dose of competition between the newlyweds as RTÉ states:

"[Andrea] worries about what will happen if they both have a bad day together.

"On the flip side, they are both competitive which will definitely help to keep them both on track."

Kathryn Thomas will once again present Operation Transformation joined by four experts, Karl Henry, fitness expert; Dr Eddie Murphy, a principal clinical psychologist with the HSE; Aoife Hearne, a registered dietitian; and Healthy Ireland Council member and GP Dr Sumi Dunne.

Operation Transformation will be shown on RTÉ One at 9:35pm tonight.
