GARDAÍ say they are satisfied with the progress being made on a spate of incidents in the city in the last five days but renewed appeals for witnesses to come forward.

Thursday night saw 20-year-old CIT student Cameron Blair stabbed in the neck and killed on the Bandon Road.

A Garda spokesperson has said that they are happy with how the investigation is progressing, but would still urge any witnesses to come forward.

Anyone who was in the area on Thursday night, and who saw anything or has dashcam footage, is asked to contact Togher Garda Station on 021 494 7120.

Less than 24 hours after the incident on Bandon Road, there was a serious assault with blunt instruments on a man in Blackpool, while Sunday night saw a man in his 20s suffer serious head injuries after being beaten with a hurley by a group of men in Blackpool.

In the early hours of Monday morning, a young man was doused in petrol and set alight following an aggravated burglary in Mayfield.

The father of three was badly beaten at a house in the Dunard estate, before being set on fire by intruders.

An incident room has been set up in Mayfield Garda Station and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 021 455 8510.

Gardaí have said that anyone who wishes to speak to them confidentially about any of the incidents that have occurred over the last number of days can contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
