Cork's Gate Cinemas reveal new safety measures and film schedule following reopening
The Gate Cinema in Midleton, Mallow and on North Main Street underwent a deep clean before reopening on Monday.

Under the government's revised roadmap, Irish cinemas were granted permission to reopen from Monday and ahead of this, the Gate Cinemas underwent a thorough sanitization.

For customers to feel safe all seats, bathrooms and handrails have been deep cleaned with a 30+ day anti-viral spray and the cinemas have clear Covid-19 guidelines for their customers.

Speaking ahead of the reopening date, Brendan Flannery, Director Gate Cinemas said the Gate was looking forward to welcoming patrons back in.

"Yes there will be changes to the way we go to the movies but of course safety of our staff and customers is paramount and our amazing team have been working extremely hard to ensure this," he said.

Gate Cinemas are encouraging patrons to book tickets in advance online and has stated that they are implementing seat separation by automatically adding empty seats around every group.

The ticketing system will select the best seats available depending on your group size and other seats already booked.

Extraction air systems will also be running 24/7 in all screens.

With the release date of a number of films postponed due to Covid-19, many will be wondering what's on in the cinema after months of lockdown.

Gate Cinemas are currently showing films such as The Greatest Showman, Dolittle and 1917.

Future new releases will include Dating Amber, Love Sarah, Black Water, Unhinged, as well as Mulan, Broken Law and Tenet.
