The Metropole Hotel’s John Coleman has been awarded the prestigious title of Concierge of the Year for Munster and Ireland at the Irish Hotel Awards 2020.

John Coleman is well known in Cork as the Head Concierge at the hotel where he adds a personal touch and helps guests plan their visit to the city.

Upon receiving the award, John said that he was delighted.

“I feel I am very lucky to be in the position I am in due to the changing social culture around hotels but I am so glad that The Metropole Hotel restored the classic concierge that would have existed in most hotels not that long ago.

“The most exciting part of my job is the unknown. Every day is different as I meet different people from different backgrounds, from all over the globe on a daily basis. The team at the Metropole is one big family. From the top down, everybody helps out,” he added.

General Manager Roger Russell said: “This is wonderful news for the hotel and just ahead of our grand reopening on the 13th of July too. We are so proud of John for all he does as a wonderful representative for the hotel.

“We are delighted to also win an award for the hotel which is a testament to all the hard work and dedication of our team members. We are so excited about reopening our doors over the next few weeks and welcoming guests back to our hotel.”
