Cork college creates virtual classroom for online lectures

The Cork College of Commerce has created a virtual classroom which it claims will allow for greater engagement between lecturers and students at a time when on-campus time is curtailed.

Cork College of Commerce said the virtual classroom will offer a safe and secure online portal where teachers and students can safely engage.

This initiative will allow lecturers to upload notes and virtually teach a class while allowing students to view their lecturer and classmates, ask questions and interact as they would in the classroom.

Speaking of the initiative, Ann Corcoran Director of Adult Education, Cork College of Commerce said:

“Covid has created many obstacles when it comes to living our life.

“However, at Cork College of Commerce we never want there to be an obstacle when it comes to education.

“Education can change a person’s life and should always be accessible,” she added.

“It is for this reason that we are delighted to offer many of our 2020 and 2021 courses fully online.

“Our courses can be accessed via a secure network on your desktop, laptop and even a mobile phone, allowing more students than ever to access and study in a way that is convenient to them.

“We think this will be a great year for the college.” Ms Corcoran also highlighted opportunities for upskilling or reskilling in the face of an uncertain jobs market.

“What happens next to the global economy and job market is out of our control,” she explained.

“The best any of us can do is start anticipating what may come, and begin strategically planning our next move.

“Now is as good a time as any to upskill or reskill,” she said.

“It is for this reason we are delighted that Cork College of Commerce has created this unique, inclusive and friendly, teaching environment.” Cork College of Commerce offers many courses across a range of topics and many of the courses offered by the college result in a formal qualification while others act as a stepping stone to courses at other third level institutions The college still has availability on many of their night courses.
