A LARGE apartment development in Ballincollig has been rubberstamped by planners.

In June, O'Flynn Construction applied to An Bord Pleanála for permission for 123 new apartments in the area.

The scheme which would be located on the Old Fort Road consists of a mix of one and two-bed homes in three blocks that will range in height from three to six storeys.

The proposal, which includes plans for a creche, gym, and 98 car parking spaces, has been approved by the planning authority.

The five-year planning will see a mix of one and two bed apartments, as well as a creche or childcare facility, internal residential amenity space and residents’ gym. The proposals also include landscaping and amenity areas within the development, including play/amenity areas at podium level.

The site, which is 1.22 hectares in size, is located to the north of the main street of Ballincollig.

All of the units in this development will be one or two-bedroom apartments, with the breakdown proposed as 39 one-bed units and 84 two-bed units, which the developers say will “cater for a variety of users - singles, couples and small families, across the full age spectrum.” 54 of the proposed 123 apartments are dual aspect-units.

Four outdoor car parking spaces, along with 94 indoor spaces, were proposed, along with 24 outdoor bicycle parking spaces with a further 272 indoor.
