Cork University Dental School & Hospital at the College of Medicine and Health, University College Cork has today announced that the dental hospital is resuming the delivery of routine dental care services for patients.

The Dental School and Hospital amalgamated clinics in March to provide a limited dental emergency service so that it could free up space for the HSE to relocate a number of Cork University Hospital outpatient services during the Covid-19 crisis.

It has continued to provide an emergency service throughout the pandemic but is now also resuming routine care.

There will be some changes however, and the hospital will not be able to accept walk-in appointments.

Instead, patients will be able to access the service by making an appointment via a dedicated phone line.

The Dental Hospital will also contact all patients with scheduled appointments directly, prioritising care according to clinical needs.

Dr Christine McCreary Dean, Cork University Dental School & Hospital today said they are looking forward to welcoming all their dental patients back.

“Our focus is on prioritising each patient’s care according to their clinical needs and we ask people to please bear with us over the coming weeks.

“The safety of our patients, dental staff and dentists is our highest priority so we ask people who do not have a scheduled appointment to visit our website for more information or call us directly, prior to visiting the hospital”.

Meanwhile, patients are being advised that a number of clinics which had been temporarily relocated to the Dental School and Hospital have now returned to their own spaces namely; the Dressing Clinic, Warfarin Clinic, Podiatry, Phlebotomy, Rheumatology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Plastics, General Surgery, Urology, Infectious Diseases, Plastics, Diabetes and ENT.
