In a statement issued by the Gardaí today they urged people to think of the ramifications of what they post online:

"On the 8th December, Gardaí received a report following a student posting a picture of an airsoft gun on social media.

"Gardaí have liaised with the student, his parents and the school in Kinsale, Co Cork.

"Gardaí have seized a number of airsoft gun from the student and the investigation is ongoing.

"Gardaí would like to highlight that everyone needs to think about what content they post on social media and the consequence of their posts."

Gardaí have moved to allay fears from concerned parents stating:

"Whilst the social media post was inappropriate and is not condoned, Gardaí are satisfied that there was no intention of the student to cause harm to any person(s)."
