Developer enters talks to build 216 student beds near UCC

TALKS are underway which could see more than 200 student beds developed in a new apartment complex near UCC.

Denis O'Brien Developments is seeking to build a 216-student bed complex at Orchard Road in the college area of the city.

The developer bought the former San Paula home in 2018 and has now entered talks with An Bord Pleanála to deliver the student housing project.

A consultation is to be completed by March 23 and a planning application is expected to be submitted following the talks.

The Orchard Road site is located close to Victoria Road, Magazine Road and College Road.

The Brookfield Accommodation Complex is nearby, as are several other student apartment blocks, while there are also plans for more apartment schemes in the wider area.
