A Cork based manufacturer has launched a large scale production of a new hand sanitiser product amid growing concerns over the coronavirus outbreak.

Cosmetic Creations, which employs 40 people at its facility on Dublin Hill, and another 50 in Mayo, officially launched the Airmedica product today (Thursday) as a direct response to current demand.

The company said it was mobilising its staff to deliver up 2.5 million units of the product, at up to 80,000 units per week, effective immediately.

According to the company, orders have already been confirmed for 40 per cent of the potential units.

“We have been contacted by both the public and private sectors, to deliver a high volume of hand sanitisers with a short turnaround time,” said Aiden Corcoran, Owner and CEO of Cosmetic Creations.

“Following recent investment in our Cork campus, we have expanded our capacity, and are working to meet this immediate need. We are fortunate to have an agile team, who have been hard at work, formulating and testing this product and ensuring we have the resources to manufacture and distribute, nationally and internationally,” he added.

Last November, Cosmetic Creations announced 90 jobs were to be created between its operations in Cork at the former Yves Rocher plant and in Mayo over the next three years, following an investment of €7.5 million into the company.
